Sorry, due to the COVID-19, Miss Laura’s Preschool Programs are Closed until March 30, 2020. Please check back then for updates. Thank you for understanding. -Laura
At this time it is best if we don’t meet for ‘Little Athletes Gym Class’ for the next two Wednesdays. Being a warrior against germs just is not going to be enough right now. So for now, no classes 3/18 & 3/25. Let’s hope for the best for all, and we’ll meet again after two Wednesdays. Thank you.
Music Brings Us Joy!
Welcome to my website. I have 25+yrs of teaching both nationally & internationally. I’m Brand New to Cottage Grove, MN, and happy about that because it is my hometown. Please share my website with others who you know who may be interested. Thank you. Registration now runs through March 15th, 2020 for the Spring Music Session. All classes have a 3 student minimum. Classes are held in a safe and welcoming environment at All Saints Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove, MN. Sessions are 10 weeks, classes are educationally based, well planned and build from week to week. Not a minute of your valuable time with your child is wasted here.
What Children Learn from Being Exposed to Music:
Research has shown that the exposure to music from early childhood onward helps children to speak more clearly, develop a larger vocabulary, and strengthen social and emotional skills. Music intelligence is as important as logical and emotional intelligence. Music has the ability to strengthen the connection between the body and brain to work together as a team. When dancing and moving to music, children develop better motor skills whereas singing along to a song helps them to practice their singing voice. In general, the exposure to music supports children in their development process to learn the sound of tones and words.

According to researchers, the early years of childhood are critical to learn to unscramble the tones of music and to build up a mental organization system to memorize the music. This class gives preschool age children lots of time to play freely and to follow instructions to create the most beautiful of sounds. Children are almost independent at this class, but they still need encouragement and reassurance from their adult during the class. This class teaches fundamentals in the most exciting of settings. Children play instruments including drums, tambourines, and Miss Laura’s Suzuki Orff instruments which include xylophones glockenspiels marimbas and metallophones. These instruments contain removable bars that resonate to project a sound when they are hit with mallets. Choose this class for you child today!
